How to be truly honest with yourself

You recommend being honest with yourself for listing your strengths. Perhaps I am different, but when listing these kinds of attributes, I find that I have a better opinion of my strengths than what is actually true.

For example, I may say that I am creative. But how do I really know I am creative? I may like different forms of art, such as drawing, writing, etc but I don't really know if that is a strength of mine.

Or I may think I want to work with people, but when I get to the job I find that I don't like dealing with people as much as I thought I did.

In short, how do you know what your strengths are or what you want in a job without actually working that job?

Hey Matthew,

That kind of knowledge will come with (life) experiences.

Personally, I know that I am NOT good with conflict or aggressive people.. for that I have someone who will handle those kind of situations for me.

I know that I am not a designer (no creative graphics anywhere inside of me). I will hire a designer... but once you give me the designs, I can piece them together in the best possible ways.

I AM a writer, so I am great with content.

I AM a problem solver... but sometimes have problems identifying a problem initially, but once you show me the problem, I can easily find the best and fastest solution.

You will find your strengths (and weaknesses), and you will learn how to use them and how to ask for assistance... just give it time.

:)

I am like to sit the place where I can handle the things on the back not upfront with dedication and put time as much as needed along with my family.
