How to call specific items out of a list

Hey guys, i'm trying to figure out how to call specific items out a list. Its asking for all of the continents that start with the letter "A".

continents.py
continents = [
    'Asia',
    'South America',
    'North America',
    'Africa',
    'Europe',
    'Antarctica',
    'Australia',
]
for continent in continents:
    if "A" in continent:
        print("* " + continent)

1 Answer

you are search the whole string for char 'A', instead just search string first char

for continent in continents:
    if 'A' in continent[0]:
        print("* " + continent)
