2,994 PointsHow was decided to create the fixed vertical navigation on teamtreehouse.com?
I love the fixed navigation that is used on teamtreehouse.com (not the marketing-site). I just wonder what thought is behind it.
It is minimal and small, so it does not take up a lot of screen space. But on the other hand, you don't immediately know what's behind an icon - you need to hover it first.
I would like to know why was decided to create this kind of navigation.

I can't speak for the developers but I think they did for ease of use to navigate around the app. It's also fairly visual so you don't have to read a lot to learn what each button does. The library button for example is an illustration of a book. Easy to make those links and come back to. :-)

2,994 PointsHi Jonathan,
I agree - I like it too. Certainly when you're using the app on a regular basis you don't need to see the title of a menu button.
To be honest I like the whole style of Treehouse. Everything is smooth and looks just right. Subtle animations, the illustrations, colors, positioning of elements... It is near perfection.
