HTML Course Needed?

Hello,

I have just completed the first course "How to make a website". The next is "HTML". I'm an intermediate web developer but I learned a few things from the first track.

Do you advice that I take the "HTML" course? I'm a bit sceptical because a lot of the subjects listed there strike me as 'basic', most of which was covered in the first course.

Thanks for any responses.

I'm a professional web developer taking Treehouse courses for fun and to brush up on a few basics--I took the HTML course to see what it was like, so I might be able to help.

If you feel comfortable with using most of the common HTML elements, understand how HTML should be structured, understand the importance of separating markup and style, and have a good grasp on newer semantic elements, then you probably don't need to take the course, or at least don't need to watch the videos. I watched most of them just to see, and they do start from the very basics (which is great for new developers!). You could try only taking the quizzes and code challenges and not watching the videos; if you score well, then you probably don't need the videos.

That said, the HTML course does go much deeper into the subject than the Making a Website course. If you don't have a good understanding of semantics and structure, or if your only experience with HTML was the Making a Website course, I highly recommend taking the full course.

It's VERY basic. Probably only good if you want to refresh some basic concepts, but since you are experienced I don't think you will get anything out of it. It looks like it was made before "how to make a website" and is targeted for someone who doesn't know HTML at all.

Okay. I think I'll just glance through this one quickly. Thank you! :)
