HTML How to Make a Website Creating HTML Content Create Navigation with Lists

I am adding in the correct code and for some reason the track keeps telling me to add something that is already there

I don't understand what is wrong with my list. All Code seems to be correct

index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Nick Pettit</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>
      <nav>
        <li>Portfolio</li>
        <li>About</li>
        <li>Contact</li>
        <ul>
        </ul>
      </nav>

    </header>
    <section></section>
    <footer>
      <p>&copy; 2013 Nick Pettit.</p>
    </footer>
  </body>
</html>

Hi, You are doing well, only part you missed is where you have to put the "li" between your "ul"

Here is corrected code.

  <a href="index.html">
    <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
    <h2>Designer</h2>
  </a>
  <nav>
    <ul>
        <li>Portfolio</li>
        <li>About</li>
        <li>Contact</li>
    </ul>
  </nav>

Happy Coding!

Hey Tywan,

It looks like your unordered list tags are out of order. Be sure to wrap your first list tag before the first list item.

Your code-

<li>Portfolio</li>
<li>About</li>
<li>Contact</li>
<ul>
</ul>

Correct syntax-

<ul>
  <li>Portfolio</li>
  <li>About</li>
  <li>Contact</li>
</ul>

Hope this helps.

Edit - Be sure to wrap your first "unordered" list tag before the first list item.

You have a closing UL tag with no opening UL tag here:

<nav>
        <li>Portfolio</li>
        <li>About</li>
        <li>Contact</li>
        <ul>
        </ul>
      </nav>

edit: I see the opening UL tag, it should be above the LI tags.
