I am getting an Incompatible Type Error

I am getting the error Incompatible type. Don't know what's the mistake? Thanks loads for your help!

MealActivity.java 
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.widget.TextView;

public class MealActivity extends Activity {

    @Override
    public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);

Can you please paste xml code from your activity_meal layout? Maybe some Ids are missing.

well i just tried exercise and this works:

    mealLayout.setBackgroundColor(Color.GREEN);
