I believe I am correct it runs.

I believe my current answer is correct but I come back with it asking if I used the > sign and I did and it runs.

You're so close! The error is that you've put the variables a and b in quotes, so the program isn't reading the data stored in those variables. Kill those quotes and you're all set.

var a = 10;
var b = 20;
var c = 30;
if (a > b) {
  alert('a is greater than b');
} else {
    alert('a is not greater than b');

Tom,

Your code is comparing strings, not variables. While it may seem to run correctly, 'a' will never be greater than 'b', as the character code decimal values are 97 and 98, respectively.
