Java Java Objects Harnessing the Power of Objects Overload Methods

I cannot see how my code would be wrong, i make an overloaded method drive, call the other and set it to increment by 1

Pretty much.

GoKart.java
class GoKart {
  public static final int MAX_BARS = 8;
  private String color;
  private int barCount;
  private int lapsDriven;

  public GoKart(String color) {
    this.color = color;
  }

  public String getColor() {
    return color;
  }
  public void charge() {
    barCount = MAX_BARS;
  }

  public boolean isBatteryEmpty() {
    return barCount == 0;
  }

  public boolean isFullyCharged() {
    return MAX_BARS == barCount;
  }

  public void drive() {
    drive(1);
}

  public void drive(int hmLaps) {
    hmLaps += lapsDriven;
    hmLaps -= barCount;
  }

  public void drive(){
   drive(1);
  }

You have indeed added the correct drive method, but you have actually added it twice. One above the original drive method and one below:

public void drive() {
  drive(1);
}

public void drive(int hmLaps) {
  hmLaps += lapsDriven;
  hmLaps -= barCount;
}

public void drive(){
  drive(1);
}

Defining a method with the same signature twice is not allowed. And you also seem to have accidentally removed the ending } bracket of the class while doing so.

If you remove the drive() method at the bottom and add the closing bracket back again like this:

class GoKart {
  public static final int MAX_BARS = 8;
  private String color;
  private int barCount;
  private int lapsDriven;

  public GoKart(String color) {
    this.color = color;
  }

  public String getColor() {
    return color;
  }
  public void charge() {
    barCount = MAX_BARS;
  }

  public boolean isBatteryEmpty() {
    return barCount == 0;
  }

  public boolean isFullyCharged() {
    return MAX_BARS == barCount;
  }

  public void drive() {
    drive(1);
  }

  public void drive(int hmLaps) {
    hmLaps += lapsDriven;
    hmLaps -= barCount;
  }
}

Then your code will pass.

Thanks, i mustve added the 3. drive() out of frustration. The real problem was the removed curly bracket to end the class ..
