I cant get the spaces and letters to print on one line.

I realize that this probably has something to do with the end=' ' part of the code but I have been unable to fix it.

Id appreciate some help thank you :)

import random

make a list of words

words = [ 'apple', 'banana', 'orange', 'coconut', 'strawberry', 'lime', 'grapefruit', 'lemon', 'melon', 'kumquat', 'blueberry', 'pear' ] while True: start = input("Press enter/return to start, or enter Q to quit") if start.lower()=='q': break

# pick a random word
secret_word = random.choice(words)
bad_guesses = []
good_guesses = []

while len(bad_guesses) < 7 and len(good_guesses) != len(list(secret_word)):
    # draw guessed letters,spaces and strikes
    for letter in secret_word:
        if letter in good_guesses:
            print(letter, end='')
        else:
            print('_', end='')

        print('')
        print('Strikes: {}/7'.format(len(bad_guesses)))
        print('')

    # take a guess
    guess = input("Guess a letter: ").lower()

    if len(guess) !=1:
        print("You can only guess a single letter!")
        continue
    elif guess in bad_guesses or guess in good_guesses:
        print("You've already guessed that letter")
        continue
    elif not guess.isalpha():
        print("You can only guess letters!")
        continue
    if guess in secret_word:
        good_guesses.append(guess)
        if len(good_guesses) == len(list(secret_word)):
            print ("You Win! the word was {}".format(secret_word))
            break
    else:
        bad_guesses.append(guess)

    # print out win/lose
else:
    print( "You didn't guess it! The word was {}".format(secret_word))

Hi Michael,

It seems you have accidentally included the following code as part of the for loop.

        print('')
        print('Strikes: {}/7'.format(len(bad_guesses)))
        print('')

Your code is:

        for letter in secret_word:
            if letter in good_guesses:
                print(letter, end='')
            else:
                print('_', end='')

            print('')
            print('Strikes: {}/7'.format(len(bad_guesses)))
            print('')

As a result:

Guess a letter: a
_
Strikes: 1/7

_
Strikes: 1/7

_
Strikes: 1/7

_
Strikes: 1/7

_
Strikes: 1/7

_
Strikes: 1/7

_
Strikes: 1/7

But when I changed the indentation to this:

        for letter in secret_word:
            if letter in good_guesses:
                print(letter, end='')
            else:
                print('_', end='')

        print('')
        print('Strikes: {}/7'.format(len(bad_guesses)))
        print('')

the result is:

Guess a letter: a
_a_a_a
Strikes: 0/7

Guess a letter: s
_a_a_a
Strikes: 1/7

Guess a letter: d
_a_a_a
Strikes: 2/7

Guess a letter: v
_a_a_a
Strikes: 3/7

Guess a letter: i
_a_a_a
Strikes: 4/7

Guess a letter: b
ba_a_a
Strikes: 4/7

Guess a letter: n
banana
Strikes: 4/7

Hope this helps.

PS. You may also want to edit your post (use ```python ) such that the code snippetsare properly displayed.
