JavaScript jQuery Basics (2014) Creating a Simple Lightbox Perform: Part 4

I can't understand a single video of this teacher. Badly stuck!

Not at all meant to be rude but I seriously can't understand a single video of this teacher. Every thing was going super smooth until here, not because JQuery is comparatively difficult or anything, but because I just simply don't understand his words. The problem is not just his accent, but the way he speaks, with pauses and periods. There is no smooth flow in his teaching like others. My whole interest and motivation in this course is gone! He knows a lot! But knowing is one thing, teaching is different. So many people have already complained about this, don't know why hasn't tree house done anything about it yet. Really upsetting.

I'm going to have to also agree with Hardip. The way that the videos are taught in this course are extremely choppy with the pauses in between Andrew's words making it very difficult to follow along.

Instead of just trying to understand the lesson of each video. I am also trying to understand how to put the words together as I follow along.

It's really disappointing because I've experienced a bit of jQuery here and there prior to learning on TeamTreeHouse, so I was very excited to solidify my understanding of jQuery through this course. jQuery is also one of my favorite topics as well...

There's some helpers for difficult videos.

One is the speed control. I generally use a different setting for each instructor. Also, for an extreme case you could turn on CC (captioning).

I've used these, and they both have been very helpful. Just be mindful when having the CC on as some words may not be exactly the words they indented. For example when mentioning "NuGet" the CC will often say "new get".

I agree, I was having a lot of trouble following this course originally, but turning on CC helped immensely!

John Wood — If you spot any mistakes in the CC, I'm sure the Support staff would apprecaite a bug report.
