The _blank value means your links will open into a new tab instead of going to the link inside the same tab

You cant add .target because its not a valid jquery function

$(".external").click(function(){
    $(this).attr("target", "_blank");
});

This should be working.

I just checked the Challenge. There is no need for the .click() function so just

$(this).attr("target", "_blank");

is working
