Java Java Objects (Retired) Delivering the MVP Validation

I do not understand why this is failing.

Am I using the correct logic?

TeacherAssistant.java
public class TeacherAssistant {

  public static String validatedFieldName(String fieldName) {
    // These things should be verified:
    // 1. Member fields must start with an 'm'
    if (fieldName.indexOf('m') > 0 || fieldName.indexOf('m') < 0){
      throw new IllegalArgumentException();
    }

    // 2. The second letter in the field name must be uppercased to ensure camel-casing
    // NOTE: To check if something is not equal use the != symbol. eg: 3 != 4
    char secondLetter = fieldName.charAt(1);
    if (secondLetter != Character.toUpperCase(secondLetter))
    {
      throw new IllegalArgumentException();
    }
    return fieldName;
  }

}

One thing you're missing is to check if the second character is a letter, because toUpperCase will always return the same character back if it isn't a letter. There may even be a way to check both in one method call...

Consider using a conditional to check the Character.isLetter() method. If it is a letter it will return true, otherwise false. In this case, if it is NOT a letter, we want to throw an exception, thus consider the not expression (!).

Thus, you should check if: !Character.isLetter(secondChar)
