I dont really understand what this exercise is telling me to do.

I have no idea what im doing. Or rather the question is asking me to do. LOL!

So this challenge is asking you to: Step (1/2) Create a function named square. It should define a single parameter named number. Looks to me like you've nailed that step.

In the body of the function return the square of the value passed in. For this all you need to do is multiply number by number

So your code should look like

def square(number):
    return number * number
