In this case the Higher the level, the more it differs from the original machine code. While machine code uses combinations of numbers and/or letters, higher-level languages translate this into words and signs that are easier for us humans to understand. When you develop a program in a Higher-level Language it has to be translated back to machine code for a computer to know what to do.
