I don't understand

Did you initialize the field 'numSides' to 4 in the base constructor? Do I assign number 4 for numSides or represents 4 in geometry?

Polygon.cs
namespace Treehouse.CodeChallenges
{
    class Polygon
    {
        public readonly int NumSides;

        public Polygon(int numSides)
        {
            NumSides = numSides;

        }

    }
    class Square : Polygon
    {
        public readonly int SideLength;
        public Square(int sideLength) : base (int NumSides)
        {
       SideLength = sideLength;
        }

    }
}

Initializing an object with polymorphism

  • You have to pass 4 to the base constructor to initialize numSides with 4;
  • To pass a value to the base constructor use base(<value>) like you did it already;
  • But instead of passing sideLength to base, pass just 4;

In the end the Square class should look like this:

class Square : Polygon
{
        public readonly int SideLength;

        public Square(int sideLength) : base(4)
        {
            SideLength = sideLength;
        }
}
