CSS

I followed the css but my lake tahoe image will not retain the colour gradient. it keeps reverting to the original image

.main-header { padding-top: 170px; height: 850px; background: #ffa949 url('../img/mountains.jpg') no-repeat center; background-size: cover;

background-image: linear-gradient (#ffa949, firebrick); }

You're adding the gradient last so the image is always going to go on top of the gradient. .main-header { .main-header { background: linear-gradient(#ffa949, transparent 50%, firebrick, transparent 50%), url('https://images.unsplash.com/photo-1435777940218-be0b632d06db?auto=format&fit=crop&w=1489&q=80') no-repeat center; background-size: cover; }

Hi Marc,

Thank you for your quick response - I tried looking at my css again (after a rest) and believe it or not - the fix was even simpler - I had a space between gradient and (#ffa949 as soon as I removed the space the colour remained orange.
