I have Completed Front End Web Development First Step (how to make website)

I have Completed Front End Web Development First Step (how to make website). I was working on workspace and completed step by step as it was being taught on videos. and it is completed and next step is to learn how to upload and make it live.

But If you ask me make same website again without looking at codes or videos , I can't do it. I can't remember all codes and commands.

so my question is , Do I need to memorise what i have learnt so far and be able to make it without looking at anything (as I think I should) Or I should just continue and do more.

it is confusing me , Please guide with some practical experience.

Hi Aamir, yeah it can be difficult the only way of memorising it is by practicing and practicing. There are so many different ways to implement code, as long as you get an understanding and practice, things will sink in.

What I tend to do is use Google when I get stuck, I also make hand written notes to myself, hand written notes tend to help me remember things better rather than just typing away on a computer.

It takes a long time to memorise, and even the pro web designers still need to use Google to research.

You'll get there soon, keep practicing :)

Thank you so much for your reply

Yes. I am making hand written notes which help me too to remember

I was just wondering should it move forward or make same site again and again on some editor like sublime until I just have command in it.

Yeah you could do, personally I keep going with learning, but it will always help if you can apply what you've learned. If I face something I can't remember or something I don't understand il go away open notepad++ or sublime as you mentioned and have a go until it sinks in, using google if I get stuck. I don't think you need to master it off by heart before you love on but more understand the principles and ideas.

I think as you move further on with the course you will remember bits you picked up earlier.

I got it , you helped :)

It's also worth remembering that the videos you have gone through are available for the entirety of your time on treehouse. I'm forever picking up new perspectives on things I thought I had a handle on with the videos I go through. It's all part of the learning experience.

You just have to get over that feeling that everyone else is automatically better than you. They are and they're not. Everybody is at a different stage. We learn individually, uniquely and everyone knows something that the next person doesn't. Do not be afraid or intimidated by the next person.

Treehouse is fantastic, but the real lesson is that practice really is perfect when it comes to learning code and design.

Thank you guys , you are helpful :)
