I have problem with this syntax: += When I'm trying to complete this little challenge, my program doesn't run.

var id = "23188xtr"; var lastName = "Smith";

var userName=id.toUpperCase();

var userName += "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();

document.write(userName);

Hi Peter,

Remove the 'var' keyword from line 3 of your code. You can't have two variables (var) with same names, hence the error.

JavaScript

var id = "23188xtr"; var lastName = "Smith";

var userName=id.toUpperCase();

userName += "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();

document.write(userName);
