Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Student 1,804 PointsI keep getting stuck on the challenges, is this normal?
I'm trying to learn JavaScript and I’m really battling. I am currently working through the arrays and objects section in project 1 of the TechDegree.
I feel like I’m taking 1 step forward and then 2 back. Every time I hit a challenge I don’t have a clue where to start.
The last few I’ve tried to figure it out, got nowhere then looked at the solution. Once I’ve watched the solution I think I’ve got it, try and do the challenge on my own and then mess it up.
I really don’t know if I am doing this correctly. Every lesson I’m getting more and more confused.
Is this normal? Or am I doing something wrong? (It's been 20 years since I last did any formal studying)

243,658 PointsWhat you are going through is not at all uncommon. You might benefit from some of the answers in this post titled The Wall, and you may also enjoy this episode of The Treehouse Show that features it.
There is also a bonus series on How To Learn.

Treehouse TeacherThis is totally normal. I've recently started learning data science -- statistics, math, new programming language -- and I feel like a complete beginner again. There's a lot to learn and practice, and it takes time. Stick with it -- my experience is that with enough exposure things just start to "click" for me, even when I doubted whether I could learn it.
We also have a lot of JavaScript Practice content. You should check those out for more opportunity to practice what you are learning.
Good luck and stay in there!!! (Also, don't forget to come over to the Techdegree Slack Channel to ask questions. There is a friendly, welcoming and helpful bunch of student developers over there.)

8,238 PointsHello Brad! Everyone (except geniuses) go through this kind of things, I don't have any advice for you, but its like in real life, if you want to achieve something, then be prepared to work hard for it, there is no easy way. If you have persistence and the will to keep going no matter how difficult the circumstances are you will get there eventually.
