iOS Swift Basics (retired) Types Numbers

I keyed in 9.99 as the string for the price constant but still it said thats not double

why is that?

numbers.swift
let title = "A Dance with Dragons"
var price = "9.99"

Two things: First 'price' should be a constant declared using 'let', but you have used var. Second, you assigned 'price' to a string data type. Since price values are doubles, the error results from expecting price to be in the form of a number, specifically that of type double, but instead finding a string.

let title = "A Dance with Dragons"
let price = 9.99
let yearPublished = 2011

Thanks for pointing out the problem. Solved :)
