Java

I love the way he teaches but

I love the way he teaches Java, and it sticks with me EXCEPT. some parts seems rushed through with out much explanation. I know hands on is key buy through some of the java objects we do stuff with not much explanation. I was great up until here but I feel I am losing my understanding now.

I understand where you are coming from, the biggest thing you can do is read the supplementary material provided in the teacher's notes. That usually covers everything in depth that he might have skimmed over. If there isn't something there on the parts you are confused on - Google is your friend and you can even ask for specifics on this forum, there are tons of helpful individuals here.

I get that, but it makes me wonder, is he teaching us to build a specific app or teaching us the language because I assumed it was a course to teach you java. I am a better visual learner so to have to go read stuff it is the same place i was before i signed up to TreeHouse. Like I said some parts is exception but most of the Object orientated parts I have done so far is confusing me. Like I understand HOW to implement things but there is no explanation is to why, when or where to really use them and that is an important factor to writing good code. and if you dont also teach to write good code then it kind of lets down the idea of teaching programming. As I said I am not knocking anyone I just feel I needed to speak on this and get an answer or some answers.

Yeah, that's understandable. He is definitely teaching Java, but in such a way that we create something with it and it can be a bit hard to cover everything you might want to cover in that way. I've used many online learning resources, and this way (building something as we go) is the best for me personally, it might not be the best for you. If anything, you might be able to fill in the gaps through video tutorials elsewhere though.
