8,651 PointsI love Treehouse. Any possibility Treehouse will offer the same great training on VisualBasic.net and SQL?
Can anyone recommend a site like Treehouse for VisualBasic.Net? Or maybe Treehouse will develop something on this?

I think treehouse has a C#/.net course in the works, but I am not sure about VB.

26,676 PointsHi Frank,
VisualBasic is an extremely old language, I don't know any developers that still write code for it because there are far superior languages such as C# and F#.
In saying that .NET courses are coming soon thanks to some new teacher positions opening up at Treehouse.
As for SQL I recommend you have a look at Database Foundations which is an introduction to the world of databases.

24,512 PointsYeah, I agree -- VB is antiquated. Learning c#.net would be a much better route -- plus it's easier to pick up other C derived languages like C++ or Java if you know C#.
I don't see VB.net jobs posted very often in my area. In addition, VB is usually used by developers/managers that are set in their ways and are resistant to change -- which is not good for you as a developer or your career development. Everything you can do with VB.net can be done with C#.net -- but C#.net is more in demand.
Visual Basic is a fun language to play around with, but there are way better languages to learn as a first programming language, like Python, C#, or Ruby. I would highly recommend C# if you are planning on going down the .net route.
Here is an interesting discussion on reddit about whether VB is worth learning: Is visual basic worth learning?
Popularity doesn't mean everything, but here is a site that shows different languages by popularity: langpop.
