I want some project ideas

I know basic JavaScript and CSS and could use a simple website to start with for a project. But if you're thinking of me making an app that you suggest, that will be perfectly fine because I know swift. I just need some ideas for either a JavaScript and CSS project or even a Complicated iOS app for a project. I just need some project ideas, that's all. Anyone, anything?

Β«Can I have a suggestion for an app that takes information from the web?

Β«Can I have a suggestion for a website that is dynamic, not static?

Thanks, I might try some of those. Thanks you Dave. Does anyone have any other ideas that I can try? Dave, your ideas sounded pretty great some of them. But maybe on the next answer, you can post the actual idea that you have yourself.

Do you think making an website that helps teachers with their study plans is a good idea for a project? Or what about an app that helps people learn programming with try out examples? Or maybe a website that helps people plan out their day by giving them reminders, schedules, watering their plant reminders, and the daily forecast? Tell me which one seems like a good idea, or continue to give me ideas of your own

It's quite alright, you asked for ideas, those sites have ideas (even some good ones). If I copy/paste them from the site to here and claim them as my own, do they become more viable/original? No. So I stand by the lists provided. However, if you don't want to use them, it's entirely up to you  As for unique ideas .. you'll need to come up with your own as I can't see people sharing their IP out for someone else to develop.

One suggestion I will offer is to really give consideration to problems you face (because you'll already be a subject matter expert) and come up with solutions for those (that's the project by the way). There's a good chance if it troubles you, there will be a market out there for it. As niche as it might be it's a big world with lots of people, so even an ultra niche product/service still might attract a couple of hundred thousand points of interest, and with that many there's a real opportunity to provide genuine value to people.

Best of luck.

Dave.

Thank you so much. I did see some good ones and I might try it. I think I got one in mind. Do you think that an app that teaches people how speak many different languages will be good? Maybe in that app people can form clubs and groups? It can be just like treehouse, just for learning languages? How does that sound Dave? And for the problem solving one, I can try that. You know what I'll try making a Rubik's cube app. That will be fun.

PS, your account seems really good. How long have you been a student anyway? I've been one since October, 2017!

Hi again,

I've been at TeamTreehouse less than a month ...

Re: language app, it's a good idea and because it won't require a lot of mobile platform specific access/integration (in it's base form anyway), might I suggest you consider making it as a progressive web app as this will enable you to distribute on all platforms easily if built right.

As there are a lot of them out there already, might I also suggest that you take a look through the reviews on the top 5-10 of them or so. Find out what works and what doesn't in context to your app vision .. what people want more of, what people think is missing from the apps out there already etc. etc. then define clearly what your app will have and just as importantly what it won't have (really define your project scope).
What will make your app different from what's out there, what value does it offer users, what niche does it target, and what do people in that niche want. Once you've narrowed down your market, refined the app scope fully, and gotten feedback from the target market ... then hook into development!

(don't even get me started on marketing! that's another battle )

Some of the apps currently in that market are:

  • Duolingo
  • Busuu
  • Babbel
  • Memrise
  • AnkiApp
  • MindSnacks
  • TinyCards
  • Leaf
  • TripLingo
  • HiNative
  • HelloTalk

There are quite a lot more, depending on which area of that market you end up targeting; but that gives you a start.

Best of luck,
Dave.

YOU ARE SO GREAT! THANK YOU!!! :-D
