14,091 PointsI want to insert a character in the line that I previously had (up arrow retrieval) instead it replaces it. Help.
How do I edit and insert a character into a line I previously entered (which gave an error) without it replacing the current character? I am working within the console.
When I press the up arrow, I get the line back that I want to edit. Then I move to the left to insert a character (such as a quotation) in the position I need but instead it replaces the character.

9,534 Pointsit may look like you are replacing the current characters, but actually, it just looks like it. You can edit the line you retrieved, it may look weird when you are editing it, but try pressing Enter and you will see what the Line really ended up looking like. Hope you'll figure it out :D
