7,742 PointsI would appreciate some feedback on my logo!
Hi Everyone!
I would love some feedback on my logo for my portfolio website. The website URL for the portfolio will be my first and last name, which is the basis for my personal branding. I'm racking my brain trying to figure out what color scheme I should use, but so far this is the best I've come up with. At the moment I have gone with an analogous color scheme for the design. The font I used is Avril Sans, which can be found here: http://www.losttype.com/font/?name=arvil.
The logo incorporates my initials SJS.
Let me know your thoughts! Link to the logo: http://imgur.com/a/t5YBM

37,033 PointsI think it's cool but I'm not 100% sure about the dab of purple in one place. The logo looks good I just kinda wonder why you put that little bit of purple in the one spot.

5,127 PointsDigging the font, but the purple is kind of... unpleasant. I get that it's a J, and I think it's pretty sweet how you incorporated it in, but maybe try a different color? Salmon?

What do you think? I actually like it more!

37,033 PointsI like the change to salmon it makes it look a lot more deliberate and helps it not feel so awkward there. That looks really good.

5,127 PointsI like it much more, but now the purplish-blue of the first S bothers me slightly. Here's a suggestion - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/leamarschein/logo_suggestion_zpsd30c993f.png
By the way, I am by no means an expert, this is just my personal opinion, so don't take it to heart too much (:

7,742 PointsIt's totally cool, that's why I posted! You're coming up with some great suggestions. Here is my implementation: http://i.imgur.com/yzhENWT.png

5,127 PointsWell, it's a thumbs up for me (: Btw, I really love the font you used, and I'm bookmarking it for the future :D!

7,742 PointsThanks! By the way, check out all of the other fonts on that site. They're free to use and once you're set to use one you can pay what you want for the licensing. It's pretty awesome!

39,199 PointsMy personal view is that if you want to be a professional freelance web designer/developer then you should consider your logo a business startup expense and get a professional graphic designer to make one for you, say spend $100 on it. I'm told by a graphic designer friend that does a lot of logo work, it's one of the hardest areas of graphic design.
