JavaScript JavaScript and the DOM (Retiring) Traversing the DOM Getting the First and Last Child

I'd really appreciate help with continuously updating the DOM: first & last child of the UL element,

continuously updating the DOM so the up & down buttons of the first & last child of the UL will be invisible or removed.
