4,402 PointsIdea Proposition 1 Second Rewind
Hey! Just wanted to drop a quick line by to tell everyone about an idea that I believe would help not only myself, but all of my fellow Treehouse Students, a lot.
On the videos, there is already a 10 second rewind button, (which is great), but sometimes, (especially Jim and Jason), tend to write code and then hop write into terminal super fast.
Although I'm able to keep up for the most part, I'm usually 1-2 seconds behind the instructor. So rather than having to watch the last 10 seconds, I only need a few frames back to see if the instructor added something small like an "end" before I run my test and see it fail because I missed such a small detail.
My workflow is simple; I write code along with the instructor, will usually have to PAUSE it for 20 seconds to catch up, press PLAY again, PAUSE, and then try and click back 1 second at a time on the player (which is difficult to do).
This is why I propose in the future, that there be a 1 second rewind button as well; just something to jump back 20 frames or so. This would help ensure little details aren't missed (ex. an END or ','), and that we're not wasting our time jumping back and forth spending 10 seconds trying to find that exact spot I stopped at before.
As a recording engineer for the past 6 years, and being an expert in Pro Tools, I understand how important it is to understand and utilize the key strokes and key commands for nearly all the processes in the application in order to save time. When you're in a 5 hour session, spending 10 seconds every minute to go out of your way to click something you don't need to click on, adds up! Our time is valuable, although we are only learning.
I'm a huge fan of your Treehouse and value what I do on here, and would like to see some of my improvements be implemented or at least acknowledged.
Anyone else care to join in and elaborate further?
Cheers,
Louis

7,899 PointsThat would be a very helpful feature. I have a similar work flow of 20 sec forward, 1 sec back.
