If you applied a min-height of 100vh to the body element, why didn't the content stretch to the bottom of the page?

The setting of 100vh was only applied to the body. So the body element does stretch, but until other changes are made to the contents, nothing visible happens.

If you want to see the change, try giving the body a background color so you can see how big it is before and after the change.
