Please help me understand this challenge im clueless

ConferenceRegistrationAssistant.java
public class ConferenceRegistrationAssistant {

  public int getLineFor(String lastName) {
    /* If the last name is between A thru M send them to line 1
       Otherwise send them to line 2 */

        int line = 0;
        return line;
  }

}

For each last name you need to decide if line is 1 or line is 2:

public class ConferenceRegistrationAssistant {

  public int getLineFor(String lastName) {
    /* If the last name is between A thru M send them to line 1
       Otherwise send them to line 2 */
    int line = 0;
    if (lastName.charAt(0) < 'M') {
      line = 1;
    } else {
      line = 2;
    }
    return line;
  }
}

An easy way to tell is to look at the first character of each last name when it is passed to the function, using the charAt() method.
