6,858 PointsI'm having trouble adding # as well as toUpperCase to var lastName while adding it to the string in var userName.
It continues to say that step 1 is no longer passing, and the console shows an error with the usage of +=
var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";
var userName = id.toUpperCase();
userName += + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase()";

231,269 PointsYou can't follow an assignment operator with another operator. So that first "+" symbol shouldn't be there.
Also, there's a stray extra quote mark at the end of the line right before the semicolon that should be removed.
Otherwise, I think you have it.
