Courses Plus Student 43 PointsI'm really starting to wonder if these tutorials on this site is enough to get us a small job at least on some level.
I'm seeing the udacity nanodegree offering really good jobs on different levels. At times I feel the level of complexity in the topics taught here are less when compared to udacity. Though I feel in all these top online training sites, Udacity stands number 1 and second stands the Treehouse.

With that said though, its not really about how much you know but really how much you can show that you know. A solid portfolio and well written resume will give you a better chance at getting interviews and potentially landing a job in tech.

11,007 PointsAfter observing this forum for a while, I've come around to the view that people learning to code often have higher expectations of how fast they'll be ready for a job then people preparing for other high skill professions.
I hear about people who got a job within 6 months but I'd imagine that's not the norm though I could be wrong. I'd say it'd be more realistic to expect that it would take a few years of consistent effort. I think that Treehouse is a necessary but not sufficient part of that preparation.
What's the rush? And are you enjoying the process?

I agree with you. I've been learning Front-End development since Fall 2012. I've done the community college thing before there were boot camps, and I'm a prime example of someone who hasn't learned this stuff well enough to land a job. I took a program recently were I was told development may not even be for me; like I'm not grasping the concepts well enough to a point to were they stick and could be wasting my time.
There are some really smart people who can learn this stuff quickly though. That's so awesome to me. My dilemma is on one hand, I've been trying to learn this stuff quickly(my welfare depends on it)...the other hand, I tell myself...whats the rush, learn this stuff the right way not the fast way.
Anyways,
Cheers
