JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Introducing JavaScript Link to an External Script

Inside the shout.js file, write the code for an alert dialog with the message 'I DID IT!'

I can not get passed this step of the challenge. I have reviewed other Q&A on this step and the suggested fixes aren't working. Please help me understand what I am doing wrong. Thanks!

You have all the right code there, you just have some extra stuff, too! Both problems are in your html:

  1. You don't need a semicolon in your script tag
  2. Make sure you're typing exactly the name of your JavaScript file (shout.js) inside the quotes for your script src

Let me know if you're still having trouble!

Thank you!

You've added the word alert to the file name. You need only the name of the file:

<script src="shout.js"></script>
