Installing WordPress locally for us poor PC people?

I am following along with this course for installing WordPress locally. Am I to watch the mac videos as well? He seems to have one video for us idiots who use PCs, and then it seems he switches back to his mac. So I am confused. I can't figure out if I am mamping or xamping or if my head is about to start cramping.

Do I need to sit through the mac videos to know what is going on? Because I was hoping I could just watch the PC applicable instructions.

No, you don't need to watch the Mac version install if you're on PC.

Mamp is for Macs Wamp is for Windows

On my Mac I use Mamp, but for my windows work machine, I actually prefer Xampp.

It's pretty easy to install, it's free, and it works very well. https://www.apachefriends.org/index.html

The rest of that lesson series doesn't really matter if you're on Mac or Windows, it'll work either way. Just a few small differences between the OS's, but that shouldn't trip you up too much.

You don't need to watch the Mac videos. Most of the videos are demonstrated on Macs which is why you will see far more references to MAMP but beyond installing in first place and any command line issues (not going to be an issue in Wordpress courses), everything should pretty much be the same whether you're running XAMPP or MAMP. If you have XAMPP set up and installed and running you're good to go with the main content.

You don't need to watch the Mac Videos. However, there is a beta version of MAMP for Windows available now. http://www.mamp.info/en/mamp_windows_beta.html
