IOS Swift?

When will the swift tutorials come out?

Great new stuff. I'm totally excited,as well as the original poster Anders Lund, to dig in all this new material the next time I'm on a Mac (but I'll probably enroll in the sections of the class I can complete w/o a Mac in the meantime).

I am guessing as soon as Apple's NDA related to the new things they've released is going to be lifted. Most probably in the autumn when iOS8 comes out.

Robert Bojor's answer is pretty spot on.

Because Swift is still a language still in development towards being a stable language to build commercial product to the extent Apple is accepting and acting on bug fixes reported by the Apple community, perhaps expect a workshop about what the implications of Swift—but I wouldn't expect a course or deep dive into Swift until it's reached a more stable state than it is right now.

The free book Apple released on the Apple store is a pretty good resource in the meantime; from what I've read so far (~150 pages), it's pretty good!

Hey there Kevin Lozandier, would you mind giving the name or link of that free book? I've done couple of searches, but the only think I keep coming up with is the Swift Tutorial which is not free.

Thanks in advanced

Hi, dantesolis:

The book is called The Swift Programming Language directly from Apple that can be found in the iBook store. Here's a link to it directly.

Apple has released a blog to ensure developers have accurate information about the development of the language towards being stable. For example, the most recent blog entry is about a new feature called access control being added to Swift.

The language not being stable, the book conveniently gets updated constantly with new/revised features they've decided to publicly document or add as a result of feedback from iOS and Mac developers world-wide.

Personally, I would refrain from buying tutorials about Swift until iOS 8 is released.

Hope all this helps, and my apologies for my original message being potentially confusing; I was unable to revise it while previewing my original reply and accidentally saving it.

Thanks Kevin Lozandier,

Your original message was not confusing, I thought that perhaps it was something which was only available in the US Apple Store; it didn't occur to me to the check the iBook store (swoosh).
The resources available at the Apple Developer website and the book are sufficient enough for me to get my feet wet.

Thanks once again.
