Is anyone else excited about Apple's new language 'Swift'?

Twitter exploded this morning with lots of developer talk around Apple's new closed-loop language called 'Swift'.

It seems like the syntax is more like JavaScript or Scala than Objective-C, so those interested in the former languages should have a good head start on the rest of us! But it's nice to know that for the most part, people will all be starting on the same page learning this new language.

Also interested if Treehouse and or its members were interested in learning more about this new language?

Yep. Already working through the programming guide Apple released.

Where's that Bradley? Do you have a link?

I'm sure Github will explode with projects this week!

I am. It seems like most devs are. The reaction in the room when Tim Cook put up that slide though was awesome. Several people said "No." with that tone of pure horror in their voices, honestly I had that stomach drop feeling for a second, many just gasped, but once he was done with the announcement... well you heard the cheers.

I'm really looking forward to it though, as are most other devs I've talked to. Pretty much everyone was playing with it on the lunch break.

P.S. If you're interested in Swift be sure to watch the State of the Union recording if you didn't watch it live. It has some good info. Also, they'll be doing Swift Intro-Advanced sessions throughout the week which will make it online for developers.

Would you recommend someone who is just starting to learn iOS development (like me for example) to continue learning through the iOS track and possibly check swift on the side or just jump right into swift full force?

Yes, because the courses are as much about the frameworks as the language. The frameworks are still going to be the same they'll just be written in a different language.

Jordan Anderson : Keep going mate! Just stay focused, keep honing your skills. Finish the iOS track first, before jumping ship! You'll be better off for it :)

Thank you guess for the speedy feed back. It means alot!
