Python Flask Basics Character Builder Forms

Is it best practice to redirect the page after submitting the form?

Seems inefficient to redirect /save back to /, as this means a refresh of the whole page every time someone hits the button. But I am guessing this is unavoidable if we want to build single page web app in Flask versus Angular, React, Vue etc? Please correct my understanding if I am wrong.
