Is Learning JQuery now worthwhile?

Am new to Front End, after joinining "TreeHouse", am doing a lot of Googling about many frameworks, lot of times, i keep seeing in one or the other posts that spending time learning JQuery is not worthwhile, as very less number of people make use of the same. Since, every one has moved on to Angular and React etc.

Please let me know your thoughs, so that it would give me some insight.

Thank you in advance.

Hi there, Krishna Kashyap ! I also believe you should learn it but for a bit different reason than the other answer left here. jQuery was developed at a time when browser inconsistencies ran rampant. There are still inconsistencies between browsers, but they are far less than they once were. But because they were so prolific, and it was almost impossible to avoid them, many people used jQuery to help them avoid this. This means that unless you are starting work with a brand new company, chances are great that they will use jQuery somewhere. And if you don't know it, you're going to be a bit lost reading their code. The reason to learn it now is more to support legacy systems (in my opinion), although there are those who just like it.

Hope this helps! :sparkles:

i think you should learn it , imagine you want to enter a company as a junior front end dev , and your the person who knows react but doesn't have a clue about jquery! thats weird! and since learning jquery only takes about 3 or 4 hours of you (MAX!) , skipping it is not so wise to my opinion ;)
