Java Java Data Structures Getting There Type Casting

Is my understanding of casting correct? Someone help me please

My understanding is that obj will be pushed into the treet object because treet is also an object so treet is able to store objects in it. So is that what casting is doing just taking an object and storing into another but then how does the object become a treet?
