General Discussion

Is my website good enough to impress an employer?

I'm leaning towards a back end position. I started applying to places this week but I have no idea what my chances are on landing an interview. The website I launched is www.combonetwork.com and was built using PHP and the Laravel framework (Thanks Treehouse!) . The site allows users to sign up and share ideas found in video games. Users can comment on posts and upvote/downvote them.

Is this enough knowledge for an entry level backend position? If not I would appreciate any suggestions to add to my resume. Your feedback is appreciated!

Personally I think a short description of what your website does is needed somewhere, since someone stumbling on it isn't really going to know what it does or what the content is. I think some of the text alignment could be nicer, like the link to your email should be on the same line as the "Contact:" text. Or the "login/join" link should be closer to the bottom of your nav bar, it kind of looks like it's just floating there.

Otherwise keep it up! Kudos for putting something together on something your passionate about. Putting something together is good but making it look nice is even better. Happy coding.

maybe set up a little advertising on one side, you wont be making money of it but it (SADLY) looks professional. just IMO Otherwise good work! Happy coding, and good luck!

I definitely agree that there needs to be more context to the site and its purpose. Give more info about yourself and how to contact you. Also emphasize how the site was built with PHP and Laravel since that is impressive!
