Why Gil use two css files? There is one for the style and one for the flexbox. This is confusing!

Front End Web Development Techdegree Student 19,342 PointsThat is just the way he chose to organize the CSS in the project. It doesn't have to be that way, you can organize in any way makes the most sense to you.

He says, whenever possible put all your css in one file. It cuts down on i/o. I assume he is right because he is a highly paid wizard and it has been working well for me since I switched.
