is there a "view page source" for css?

i cant believe I accidentally deleted my main.css file and now all my work is gone. However I do still have a tab open with my website before the css file got deleted. I know that clicking view page source can grab the entire html but is there something similar for css? I know I can inspect element and see all the css from there but is there any easier way?

i did inspect element on the tab with my website before the css got deleted and then went -> sources -> css -> main.css however nothing is inside there :'(

You can view the source of the html file, then find where you linked main.css in the html (probably between the head tags), and click on that link. It might show up from the cache, I have a feeling it won't, but it's worth a try.

Luckily when I asked a question before, i took a screenshot and luckily i didnt delete that screenshot. So i forked it then using inspect element on the tab with my website I poked around in the css and copied everything. took around an hour but now everything is good. I was having a mental breakdown before lol.

I would highly recommend you learn git asap. You will never run into this problem again. Here's the link to the Treehouse course on git:

Git Basics

according to the web design track, its the last thing that im going to learn. Is it better to just learn it already?

As long as you are just learning I think you'll be fine. ;) You've probably learned your lesson, so the chance of this happening again before you get to the Git Basics will hopefully not be too big!

Good luck!

I agree with Gerben Dol. Just stay on track and learn it at the end. Git doesn't have the "cool" factor of learning something like JavaScript, but you will be amazed by its power and usefulness.
