Is there a way to get cloned appended elements to take on the new parent's CSS?

Trying to make it so when I click on a friends account in a friend list, it stays there but also shows up in a different spot.

I'm using:

$(".flItem").click(function(){
    $(this).clone().appendTo('.sendTo');
  });

And it works... kinda. "This" shows up in the div with the class .sendTo but it doesn't take on .sendTo CSS. The font size and display are all jacked up.

Any thoughts?
