Is there any reason to use 'list-style: none;' if I mark li items as 'display: inline'?

So while tinkering around on codepen for a little I noticed that if I set my li items as

display: inline

the bullets disappear. When I do this does list-style: none automatically become the default or are they hidden somewhere where I can't see them? If the former, should I still use list-style: none; in my code?

Thanks!

They are on the far left somewhere, you want to add that code just to make sure they aren't hiding and effect your layout later.

(Unless you are using a reset like normalize and have added in the text-decoration: none beforehand)

Awesome, I kind of figured that they might be hidden somewhere! Thanks!
