Is this option viable?

Is there any reason line 2 could/should not be coded as follows?

"print('There are {} attendees currently.'.format(len(attendees)))"

It runs fine in the console, but would this complicate anything later?

Python offers several methods for formatting strings, and which one you use is generally just a matter of personal preference. The end result of any of them is the same.

Adding to Kevin's comment, yet another way would be this:

print('There are %d attendees currently.' % len(attendees))
