Is this the ideal way of solving this challenge?

I found a solution to this problem, but since I am still learning, is this the ideal way to sove this?

disemvowel.py
import copy

def disemvowel(word):
    vowels = ["a", "e", "i", "o", "u"]
    orig_list = list(word)
    letter_list = copy.copy(orig_list)
    for l in letter_list:
        for v in vowels:
            if v in l or v.upper() in l:
                orig_list.remove(l)
    word = ''.join(orig_list)
    return word

In Python, there are usually many ways to solve a problem. Here's another way using List Comprehension -

def disemvowel(word):
    vowels = ["a", "e", "i", "o", "u"]
    return "".join([w for w in word if w.lower() not in vowels])
