Is using Treehouse projects in your portfolio taboo?

I'm a new freelance web developer and designer and I'm building up my portfolio. I'm doing free work for people, but I think some of the projects I've done in the Treehouse courses would nicely complement the other work I'm doing. I technically "did" the projects and have a full understanding of their workings, but they certainly didn't come from my creative ingenuity.

Given that it's ok to use templates with a few new colours and fonts in your portfolio, would it be alright to add the projects done in the Treehouse courses (with maybe a couple of CSS changes)?

Maybe change the content? Like the sample website, change the theme, pages, etc.

I would come up with concepts and ideas for sites. Then use the languages to execute them.

I would contact Treehouse support or ask the original author of the tutorial! Just to make sure it is okay to use them! Happy Coding!

Ya I was going to make some minor changes but I'd for the most part be using a recycled version of the completed project, which would demonstrate my understanding level but not my creativity. Maybe I should ask Treehouse, I'm wondering equally if it's against the ethos of freelancing.

Well technically speaking you did not design it, but you did code it, it is a bit of a grey area, just check with treehouse so you don't get in any trouble with them :).
