Java Text/Reference Books?

Hey Treehouse,

I was wondering if anyone knows of any up-to-date and worthwhile Java Textbooks (either learn-to or just reference) that you would recommend to add to my library. I'm still old-fashioned and like to have physical books on my shelves. Lol. :)

What would Craig Dennis say?

Thanks much Seth!

The Lambda's one I think will be for sure. :)

Hey Jason Anders,

While I don't know the first thing about Java, I heard these two books were good:

Java Beginners Guide 6th Ed.

Java Complete Reference 9th Ed.

I like to have physical books as well :) I always have and always will! I remember reading somewhere that you can read 20% faster from a book than you can from a screen. Don't quote me on the accuracy of that statistic, however, I thought it explained one of the reasons why I like physical books so much.

Thanks Steven! :)

I will check those two out.

I agree. I will always have books (actually just bought another book shelf lol). I believe you can read faster, and in my opinion, read better and retain more.

Thanks again!!
