It seems that the guy who teaches Javascript basics is not very detailed enough in his explanations. It appears that he assumes too much when it comes to what one should already know! makes it harder to follow and learn and pushes you to other outside video options.

Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Student 8,116 PointsI encounter the same problem also. I finished HTML and CSS intros on Treehouse w/o any problems in terms of understanding key concepts, yet it's different story for Intro of Javascript.
The way he explains those concepts are hard for me to grasp sometimes that I have to watch those videos several times to a point I just switch to free tutorials on youtube. At least they put out simple and straight forward examples that are not too complicate to understand for a beginner like me. I notice Treehouse is preparing another Javascript tutorial and will be out in October. Hopefully it's much better and thorough than this one.

As much as I love Treehouse, I really have to recommend CodeAcademy's free course of Javascript. It is very intuitive, in my opinion, and it gives you great hands on learning of Javascript. You end up building a couple programs throughout the course that can be useful in the real world and undoubtedly helpful on Treehouse.

1,942 PointsI think JavaScript course is much better than the jQuery course.

I had this same issue so I just wanted to comment on it. If you take the JavaScript Basics Course, then take the Interactive Web Pages Part 1, and the JavaScript part of the MASH course, then come back to this deep dive, you'll be able to do this one.
