6,918 PointsThere are a few blogs etc that have specified how people have done so. One in particular talked about how they had no coding experience 6 months prior to being hired. The one I am thinking of was very driven. They created a blog to document their progress, and a github so they could share their code. They also made sure to code every day, and to push code out as much as possible. Putting together a site to showcase your best work is also something to do and something I've seen recommended several places. The blog post I read recommended getting involved as much as possible to learn and improve your coding to make you more marketable.

23,287 PointsOmied, we're going to be working very hard at this. I believe in the near future we'll be able to help Treehouse Students find jobs. I'm sorry we can't help right now though!

20,822 PointsTry to find something to specialize in. Seems like most jobs want web development skills, plus something else. For example, I'm an IBM Lotus Domino XPages developer. I do lots of web development, but it is on a specialized platform. Read through job postings on www.Dice.com and see what stack of web technologies are in demand and work on obtaining them.

I'll be hitting that one hard. Loving the corp-to-corp contract work. Exactly the job types I look for. :)

I'm a fan of having certifications because the look good on resumes. Certifications help you get the interview, but having portfolio will help you at the interview.

20,822 PointsW3Schools ( http://www.w3schools.com/cert/default.asp ) has a series of certifications that are a good starting point. Their only downside is that they are self administered. Most certifications you go to a testing center to take the test.

Treehouse Guest TeacherHi Omied Badr, one thing on our site that might help is our Careers Foundations course. In it, Pasan Premaratne and I discuss ways to identify opportunities in the tech industry, prepare for them, and interview skills. But we also mention - and it's mentioned in interviews with experts like Paul Boag - that many places don't require degrees; they want people with great skills and a passion for the job.
We also have a Quick Tip on How to Apply for a Design Job which can give you some ideas on what's expected, including a relevant cover letter and a great portfolio, which has also been mentioned here.
