1,399 PointsJob Interview help / XML / Course Suggestions
Greetings, I thought I would put a discussion out there that could help me with a job interview I have on May 1st.
First some background - From 2006 - 2010 I was a web design junior concentrating on the graphical design, html and CSS. I never really touched JavaScript or XML unless it was to plug the code into my html framework.
I left the industry in 2010, a mixed bag of being burnt out and wanting to try something completely different. Ultimately, it took giving up web design to make me realise that it is truly my passion and something that from now and into the future I want to dedicate myself too.
I joined Tree House in 2014 because my coding skill set was dated and I wanted a way to bring myself right up to speed with the latest technologies and design standards.
I have been applying for all sorts of web design junior roles as I believe I have enough skills already to adequately carry ourl this role, and today I got notification of a interview and technical skills test. Part of the assessment will include the ability to demonstrate a knowledge of XML.
This leads me to my question, I haven't ever really used XML directly before and I have until May 1st to become familiar with the basics, so I was wondering if there are any related courses here I could take or any other web resources anyone can recommend. I tried searching for a course in XML on Tree House, but couldn't find anything.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated - Also if I get the job I will give you infinite hugs!!!
Thank you in advance for any responses.

28,690 PointsThere are many tutorials out there if you search for them, but you will find that the articles/tutorials are quite old, some almost 10yrs although in this case that's not necessarily bad.
I found these two that are fairly comprehensive:
- http://www.xmlfiles.com/xml/ -- this site is pretty dated but it has great info.
If you have the time or inclination I would suggest looking into JSON also as that is sort of the newer way to handle data that used to be handled with XML (depending upon business needs and technologies being used). They are structurally similar but the syntax is different. This may or may not be relevant to the position you are being interviewed for, but it may be something to be aware of, not only for this interview, but for future endeavors as well.
Best of luck!

hugs all round
Seriously, thanks for the links and advice. Whilst XML and java didn't play as big of a role as I imagined, it was good for me to get a basic grounding in the technologies and im sure it helped overall.
